MASSAGE

Massage

Massage therapy is manual manipulation of soft body tissues (muscle, connective tissue, tendons and ligaments) to enhance a person’s health and well-being. There are dozens of types of massage therapy methods (also called modalities).

People seek massage therapy for a variety of reasons – to reduce stress and anxiety, relax muscles, rehabilitate injuries, reduce pain, and promote overall health and wellness.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping Therapy uses a combination of negative pressure and massage movements to soften tight muscles, tone attachments, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue with the use of a suction device. Sometimes the device leaves temporary marks, but it is infrequent. .

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue massage is helpful for chronic pain and injuries. Techniques are usually slower with more concentrated pressure in areas of tension and pain. The point of deep tissue techniques is to access contracted areas of tissue with minimal discomfort to the client. .

Intraoral Massage

Intraoral massage can help release tension in the jaw, head, and neck, from both inside and out.  This can greatly help with jaw clenching, teeth grinding, TMJd, and can ease some headaches.  This technique is performed while wearing non-latex gloves for hygiene and safety. .

Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy massage can relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and overall help you feel good. Prenatal massage is specifically designed to address the needs of pregnant women throughout their pregnancy. When a woman is pregnant her center of gravity is continuously changing, her ligaments relax and allow joints to be less stable, and the weight of the baby can cause all sorts of aches and pains. Prenatal massage will also help swelling in the legs and feet. During the massage moms are bolstered in a side lying position with pillows when it is no longer comfortable to lie face down. .

Sports Massage

For those who train and participate in a variety of physical activity, Sports Massage is ideal. The focus in these sessions is on injury prevention, maximizing performance, and injury treatment. The massage is usually vigorous and employs cross-friction, compression, pressure points, and strokes for increasing circulation. This type of massage is not limited to correction or relief of sports injuries – it can be used to help athletes better their performance, increase blood flow to critical body parts and increase range of motion. .

Swedish Massage

Swedish massage uses long strokes, kneading, and vibration techniques to increase circulation, relax muscles, and calm the nervous system. It is the most recognized type of “Western” massage types. .
